Search Smith hit 1,000 page views this morning. So far the site has had over 500 visitors and 400 unique visitors. Not a big deal for the three-plus months the site has been in operation, but perhaps more impressive is the fact that we’ve gotten over 500 page views and 200 unique visitors since the last time I reported on site statistics (less than one month ago).
I will return to semi-regular posting at some point soon after Easter.

At some point yesterday this blog passed 200 unique visitors and 400 page views. And today we had our 300th visit.
I guess that’s what one would call starting small. 🙂
On a side note, I’ve recently posted on:
- How to handle Solr query results in ColdFusion;
- Returning the number of milliseconds elapsed since midnight in Oracle (useful for seeding a random number generator);
- Paginating query results in Oracle 10g; and
- Changing the port on which Jetty listens if you want to use a port other than the default (8983).
Oh, and aside from the United States, this blog is most popular in:
- The United Kingdom, and
Of course special mention must also be made to Norway! Most unexpected was the single visit from Lagos, Nigeria. Within the U.S., the greatest number of visits are from:
- Philadelphia, PA;
- Bozeman, MT;
- Washington, DC;
- Harrisburg, PA; and
- Chicago, IL.
Those five actually combine for over 1/3 of my visits from the U.S. and nearly 1/4 of my total visits.

For fans of science fiction in general and of Niven & Pournelle’s The Mote in God’s Eye in particular, I just posted my review of Jennifer Pournelle’s Outies (an authorized sequel to The Gripping Hand) on Amazon.com. Dr. Pournelle is Jerry Pournelle’s daughter and – as far as I can tell – this is her first foray into science fiction. A really strong first effort, well worth the price especially in the Kindle edition.
